The Boxer is an intelligent, energetic, and self-confident companion.
Originally bred for hunting and later used as a guard dog, today's Boxer is often seen participating in various dog sports, including Obedience, Agility, Tracking, and Schutzhund. The breed is also seen working in Search and Rescue as well as Therapy. The Boxer is of medium size, has a short, shiny coat that comes in fawn and brindles of varying shades. He gives an appearance of strength, agility, elegance and style in his gaits. His face shows expressions of curiosity, excitement, happiness, surprise and sadness. Rocky (CKC Champion Duchwars Rakkasans) was imported from Wisconsin as a puppy and finished his Championship and was quite successful as a specials dog, with Best of Breed and Group wins. American and European Boxers
We live just northeast of Edmonton, Alberta on 155 acres which provides plenty of trails and adventure for the dogs and horses. Our Boxers live in our house as family members. They nap on the kids beds or in front of the fireplace, they are happy to accompany me on jogs, they act like clowns in the front field, tag along through the trails on a horseback ride or quad ride, become couch potatoes on movie night and even play a mean defense when my son plays ball hockey!
All of our dogs are health screened for common breed ailments such as Subaortic Stenosis (SAS) via colorflow doppler ultrasound and Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy (ARVC) via yearly holter monitoring (heart tracing). They are also hip xrayed to screen for hip displaysia. OFA certifications available for viewing.
We do have pups available occasionally throughout the year.

In addition to the Breeders listed here, the Breed Clubs generally include listings of member Breeders on their web sites and, if not, then a listing can usually be obtained either by e-mail or telephone. If a young pup is not an absolute requirement for you, then considering the adoption of a dog from a rescue organization or shelter is strongly recommended. Each individual breed section on the Canada's Guide to Dogs web site includes listings of Rescue Organizations specific to the breed. In addition, Breeders occasionally have young adults available and many also take in rescued dogs.
