- Akita Rescue Society of America (ARSA) — Founded in 1976 by a small group of Akita fanciers who recognized the need to assist abandoned Akitas.
- Akita Rescue Mid-Atlantic Coast, Inc. (ARMAC) — Dedicated to helping the many Akita dogs that wind up in shelters in Virginia, Maryland, Washington DC, and neighboring states.
- Mid-West Akita Rescue — Serving the Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio,Iowa, Missouri and Minnesota areas
- Akita Rescue of Western New York
