All members of the Sighthound family are sensitive to a number of anasthetics. Reports of anesthetic deaths are common in the Sighthound family of dogs; therefore, it is very important to discuss this with your Veterinarian in advance of any required surgery. Luckily, today there are many anesthetics that are safe for Sighthounds.

For additional information, see: Anesthesia in Sighthounds from the Saluki Club of America, as well as A Safe Method of Sighthound Anesthesia by Rodger I. Barr, DVM.
