The Poodle is a popular breed, well known for his intelligence, good-nature and willingness to please. The Poodle comes in three size varieties: Toy, Miniature and Standard with all three having the same general characteristics. The Standard Poodle is believed to be the oldest of the three varieties. Poodles were first brought to North America at the end of the 19th century but did not become popular until after the Second World War. By the mid-1950s and for about 20 years thereafter, the Poodle was the most popular breed registered in the United States. The Poodle's coat is non-shedding and, therefore, may be a good choice for those suffering from allergies.
