The Portuguese Water Dog, known as the Cao de Agua "dog of the water" and the Portuguese Fishing Dog, is an intelligent, devoted and loyal companion. He has a high level of energy and stamina so requires daily exercise. The PWD is people-oriented and thrives on being made part of the family. Though not aggressive, he is protective and makes a good watchdog. Today, the Portuguese Water Dog is seen participating in various dog sports and activities, including the show ring, obedience, water dog trials, and agility. He is also seen working as a Therapy and Assistance Dog. The Portuguese Water Dog has a non-shedding coat and therefore, may be a good choice for allergy sufferers. Our puppies are raised in our kitchen/dining room area so they can get use to all kinds of activity. They are checked by our Vet, given their first shots and are micro chipped. They are registered with the CKC.
